Fire, what fire??

We have the cutest little bald man with tons of energy as one of our lecturers. We were told that he was the guru of neurophysiology and if you've ever been a student at Curtin University, he probably taught you neuro. Almost everyone in the staff has been taught by him at one point or another. He told us that we can basically find him everyday for help if we wanted, except for Wednesday because it's for playing golf.

When he wants us to shut up he always says, "the bumblebees are out again. I'm hearing bumblebees". Who wouldn't love a lecturer like that. If you've ever taken Physics 111 in Waterloo, think Smith but a little shorter and more intense. But they were both great and hilarious.

Now imagine the last week of class...We're all sitting there and all of a sudden the fire drill comes on. Is this a drill?? Should we leave?? Great, of all weeks this is a crucial class and cannot be made up any other time.

The lecturer looks around, then goes to open the lecture door to check outside. He comes back in and says "there's no fire, I don't see or smell any fire...I'm not leaving". HAHA...I never thought I would hear that from a lecturer. And so we all sat there for a few minutes while the sound of the fire drill kept on ringing. He went to the internal phone and tried to call someone. Don't know if he actually got anyone but a few minutes later the campus security guy came in. The look on his face was classic. You can tell from his face that he was saying: "What the heck are all of you still doing here?? Why are there people still in here?? Do you not know the meaning of evacuation when the fire drill comes on??" It was great.

Apparently there was a small fire in the chemistry building. But it's not really connected to us because these lecturers are a separate building of its own. The building is very close so if there was a big fire, we would have to evacuate. So what do we do?? We all left the lecture room and the lecturer discovers that the lecture room across from us is free. Haha, how is that different?? It's literally only a few feet away. Since this lecture room is so much smaller, people are sitting on the aisles and in front. Haha, a fire hazard if I've ever seen one. Too bad the security guy didn't come back. He probably would have blew up.
