Happy Easter!!!

Happy Easter everyone!!! I got up this morning and headed straight to my bag of tomatoes that I bought the other day. Hmm, nothing like a tomato and cracked black pepper sandwhich to start the day. I know it doesn't exactly sound like a breakfast but believe me, it was heaven. A couple of weeks ago my friend told us that she was giving up all junk food for lent. So KP and I thought it would be a good idea to give something up that we really loved too. The catch was that someone else had to pick something for you.

I chose cheese for KP to give up and she chose tomatoes for me. If you've lived us you would know how much we love those chosen food. It's been quite tough because I decided to make it more challenging by giving up all items that included tomatoes, including tomato sauce, ketchup, and other tomato based food items.

We also thought it would be a great idea to get as many people involved in our little challenge. We told Becks to give up chopsticks. Soon after more and more people in our class wanted in on this little challenge. Things ranged from giving up all sauces to giving up chocolate. One person only lasted a day without using sauce. Apparently you were allowed to "cheat" on Sundays but I thought that was weak. There's no challenge if you're allowed to give in once a week. That's just weak and anyone who does was considered weak in my books.

It's amazing though how giving up something so minor as tomatoes can really affect your life. I can't even imagine what it must have been for Jesus. It makes you realize how selfish we are. If the majority of people can't even give up the little things for a few weeks, we are in big trouble. I think I'm going to start a new challenge to give up something else that I love or make myself do something for a month.

I haven't gone to church in awhile and it was really great going to service today. People at this church are always enthusiastic and everyone just dancing and praying for each other. You can't help but long to be part of it. It was quite intense. Actually everytime I go, which isn't very often, I start to get quite moved by it. I really should try to go more often. There really isn't any excuse now that I don't have any ball on Sundays.
