Nickname

For those who have played ball with me know that I am obsessed with nicknames. I love nicknames. I think everyone on a team should have a nickname. It just seems like they are more part of something that is only shared amongst the team. On my team, I sounds weird when I have to call them by their real name. Many times I have to think about what their real name is. That's how you know you've done a good job with the nickname. It's my thing...I actually have a lot of odd things that I do when it comes to ball but we won't go there...

I need help on one of my teammates. She's a pitcher and takes what feels like an hour between every pitch. It'll be in the set position, no joke, for a good 5 seconds before throwing a pitch. If I was batting against her, I would call time every other pitch just to piss her off. She's great though. I wish she was pitching more...

So people, please help and think of an animal or object or thing that is slow to initiate. Please remember that this is for a nickname so it has to be catchy, preferrably one or two syllables. Come on you teachers (ie. Jaws and DC), give me something...We have a few options but not something that stands out. Usually I can feel it when it's the right one. Lea, if we can't think of something else I think we'll go with your option. Apparently mine is too mean but it's so damn funny...I'll let people know what it is once we get a nickname for her...

Think people think....something that is slow to initiate...And for all you physios out there, I know you're thinking of a Parkinson's patient right now...I can't all her akinesia (it's a health professional terminology for someone who freezes, who are slow to initiate movements). Haha, pretty funny but can't use it as a nickname...too bad....

book heaven

Have you ever had the feeling that you've just stepped into heaven?? You know, the kid in the candy store sensation?? The moment I stepped into the medical section of UofT it was pure happiness, until I snapped out of it and remembered how expensive textbooks were. When I was in Australia I didn't by any textbooks. Yes I know I was crazy cheap and didn't want to have ship books back. Too expensive...How I ever passed is beyond me. Most people in my class was or is still trying to figure that one out.

You should have seen the selections that were available. So many GOOD physio textbooks to choose from. Even the non physio selections were interesting to look at. If Curtin University actually recommended some of these texts, I would have considered buying one or two. Now that I'm back in Canada and have no resources to study from, I gave in and bought a few books. But these are damn good resource books. Yes I know I'm a nerd, but a physio nerd so that's cool. At least that's my opinion. I use to tell people that being a Kin nerd was cool and the same goes with Physios...haha...

And that was how I spent my Monday...

Studying....again....

I'm finding it really difficult to update my blogs since I've been back home. It's not that there's nothing to write about because there is plenty but just getting myself to sit down and do it.

I found out last week that I was granted permission to write the Canadian Physio competency exam this Sept. WooHoo!!! It was looking as if I wasn't going to be able to write the exam until Nov so this was fantastic news and it means I'm that much closer to being a real physio here in Canada. I never knew someone could ever be that excited to be allowed to write a 4 hour exam but there I was, jumping up and down like I just won the lottery.

However this having to study for crazy exams never seem to end. I just want this to be over and done with already....It's so hard to get motivated and it's really stressing me out...At the moment I'm at UW, at the library. Yes people I'm using the computers in the library and studying. You have no idea how weird this feels. It's definitely giving me feelings of deja vu. I almost have the urge to look up when exams are or something like that. There are one big change that I've noticed though. They actually put up book detectors in DP library so they no longer have someone sitting there checking your bags. All I have to say is, welcome to present time UW. It's about time!!!! I'm thinking of walking to my car and grabbing my camera for this special moment...

Yesterday I drove through one of the few roundabouts we have here in Ontario and may it felt so weird going the other way. It was quite the mental effort to tell myself that I'm not driving on the wrong side and yes I'm suppose to be going in this direction. For those of you who have never been to Australia, that country is roundabout central. Forget stop signs, they have roundabouts instead.

Lots of other news to update people but that will have to wait for new posts...too much to say for one posts...Hope everyone is doing well!!!!
